Our Story: Veteran, Family and Faith

Brothers Brew was born out of pain, purpose, and prayer.

As a United States Marine Corps veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, I came home carrying the invisible weight so many of us do—restless nights, racing thoughts, the constant search for calm. I and too many brothers reach for alcohol as a last-resort medicine to quiet the noise. And then I lost one of my closest friends—the man I served beside, laughed with, and trusted with my life—not in combat, but here at home to liver failure from years of trying to self-medicate the memories away.

That loss broke something in me, but it also lit a fire. I knew there had to be a better way—a healthier, natural way to find peace without destroying the body God gave us. Guided by my Christian faith and the belief that we’re called to care for both soul and body, I set out to create a drink that honors life, promotes real rest, and offers calm without compromise.

That’s how Icy Hops came to be—the original, the O.G. Handcrafted in small batches in Hastings, Michigan, using our long-brew cold fusion process to gently extract the natural calming qualities of hops. We start with pure remineralized reverse osmosis water, the finest hops (often Michigan-grown), organic lime, and just a touch of hibiscus for balance. No alcohol, no shortcuts—just clean, bold flavor designed to help you unwind naturally and reclaim the rest your body and mind deserve.

From there, the family grew the lineup: Pink Mist (that beautiful hibiscus pink with lime kick, inspired by Corps lingo for a moment of calm in the storm) and Lights Out Lavender (lemon-lavender serenity for those nights you truly need to rack out).
